 Abstract: The study begins with an overview of the history and state of the art of producing balls for grinding media by the rolling method. It then describes at length the wedge rolling technology for balls developed at the Lublin University of Technology. After that, the study discusses a new method for producing balls that consists in using heads of scrap rails as billets. Finally, the study presents experimental results of producing 22 mm diameter balls made of real material (R200 steel). The results validate the developed rolling technique, proving it to be a viable method for producing balls.
